Whichever of the two engines you opt for, you’ll experience the joy of driving combined with impressive efficiency. The xDrive50i with a V8 engine impresses with its power and sophistication, while the xDrive35i with an inline 6-cylinder engine lets its efficiency speak for itself.

BMW X5 TwinPower Turbo V-8 engine
The new X5 xDrive50i is equipped with the 4.4L TwinPower Turbo V-8 engine, producing 400-hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. This more powerful engine has 50 more horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque than the previous 4.8L V-8, resulting in a 1.1 second faster 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds*. And thanks to High Precision Injection (HPI), maximum efficiency is extracted due to precisely measured doses of fuel being injected into the combustion chamber.
The new X5 xDrive35i is powered by the TwinPower Turbo engine with Valvetronic. The new inline 6-cylinder engine produces 300-hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, which represents a 40-hp and 75 lb-ft of torque increase versus the outgoing engine; and as such, the 0-60 mph is now as fast as the outgoing V-8 at 6.4 seconds*.
